Kwan Hee Lee, MD, Ph.D., is a co-founder of L&J Biosciences and is the chief technical officer. He is trained as an orthopedic surgeon with more than 20 years of experience. He obtained his MD from the prestigious Seoul National University in Korea in 1982 and a Ph.D. in orthopedic sciences from the same university in 1993. He also has been a guest researcher at the US National Institutes of Health, conducting key studies involving the therapeutic use of TGF-βs.
Dr. Lee is well-known as a worldwide leader in the field of orthopedic medicine and clinical development. He has served as the director of the Clinical Research Center of Inha University Hospital in Korea and a professor. He was a member of the Gene Therapy Committee of the Korea FDA, which has provided him with unique experience in understanding the drug evaluation and approval process in connection with genetic therapies such as cell-mediated gene technology. TG-C (Invossa), invented by him, is now in phase III clinical trial in the US and marketed in Korea.
